Apple iPhone Firmware Update v1.1.3 Resurrects Bricked iPhones

bricked-iphone-unlockDid you try unlocking your iPhone resulting in a bricked iPhone.A bricked iPhone, for new users, is that useless piece of hardware that exists as your iPhone after you tried and failed to unlock it.This new update from Apple is capable of unbricking a bricked iPhone.

What the firmwire update does is that Apple’s new 1.1.3 iPhone firmware rewrites most or all of the phone’s firmware, allowing bricked iPhones to be brought back to life.

Guys at Gizmodo were able to resurrect a bricked iphone.

UPDATEtuaw.com reports the firmware update v1.1.3 is less stable than the previous 1.1.2 and leading to problems. Some of the problems with 1.1.3 being reported:

  • Error message during/after install of iTunes 7.6 and firmware 1.1.3
  • Loss of sound output from the iPhone’s built-in speakers
  • Bluetooth devices that worked with 1.1.2 no longer work
  • Mail problems
