Backups can be lifesavers but not many make use of this.Create Backup of your system easily using DriveImage XML which can create hot backups and images of partitions and logical drives on the fly even while the partitions are in use using Microsoft’s Volume Shadow Services (VSS).Images are stored in XML files and can use two different compression levels.You can create backup images as a multi-file image or just a single image file.

    Here’s an example for the compressions times for a backup of 33 GB using DriveImage:

    COMPRESSION DURATION SIZE
    No compression 13 min 33 GB
    Fast compression 15 min 22 GB
    Good compression 50 min 12 GB

    DriveImage XML runs under Windows XP, Windows Server 2003 and Windows Vista only. The program will backup, image and restore drives formatted with FAT 12, 16, 32 and NTFS.

    The Private Edition of DriveImage XML is free for home users but you have no support for the private edition.
