This is a review of the Apple Blog managed by Amit Bhawani, he holds couple of websites, blogs, web directories and a web hosting company which he manages.I reviewed his blog AmitBhawani.com back in November 2007.This review now is of his Apple Blog.

The Apple Blog is where Amit review’s Apple Products available in India like the iPods and MAC OSX, he also shares tips and tricks for the Mac OSX.

The earlier theme for his blog was a dark theme, but now he uses a free theme from BOB.The present theme is a lot simpler and has importance given to content than the design.As he’s into blogging and making his word heard in the blogosphere, I feel a theme designed by a professional can make the blog an even better theme, rather than using a free blog theme.

What I Liked :

• Domain name: The domain name amitbhawani.com/apple is easy to remember, like most of his blogs are under one domain.
• The Header is left simple with with just his name and a search box to the right.
• Product reviews are indepth focusing on the features of the products.
• The tips shared are day to day useful tricks which make it really easy for beginners of the MAC OSX.
• The Ask Amit Section where you can ask Amit a query.
• The footer using which he’s promoting his other blog’s RSS Feed, rather than the common widgets that many use.

What I Disliked :

• Not Updated Daily: As his other blogs the Apple blog is less frequently updated, at the time of this post the last update was on July 3,2008.
• There is no navigation option to go to the old posts like, Page numbers at the last in the HomePage.
• There is also no popular post or a tag section which could be used to navigate to older posts.
• The latest Apple News Section in the right sidebar is showing almost the same post, the side bars can be utilised to promote olders posts and achieves.

Final Thoughts :

The Apple Blog though not updated on a regular basis has a huge potential, as the user base of Apple products is increasing and with the launch of Apple’s 3G iPhone more content on such topics could have better results, I was not able to read most of the older posts of the blog as I found no way navigating to them except for using the Apple India Section which in my view might not easy for many.

With improvements on navigation and regular posting I find huge potential in the blog.

On my first visit a month ago, AmitBhavani.com had a different design. I think it was a 3 column Sodelicious 2.0 theme with content to the left and 1 sidebar to the right side. Amit has got his blog a much better self designed theme now.

What I Liked

1. Website Theme : Self Created Wordpress Theme.
2. Targets Set : Amit has set goals to be achieved on his blog in the next 100 days titled 100 Days Challenge which is really inspiring.
3. Competition: Amit holds competitions on his blog.
4. Daily Updated.
5. Product reviews of softwares, hardwares and online services.

What I Did Not Like

1. The HomePage is not well utilized to the left, and the BlogRush is out of the left column margin.
2. In the blog, the Latest Updates are not seperated, it would look nice if each of the post is listed.
3. The blog link in the header in the homepage is not active, its not linking to the blog but to the homepage.
4. The recent posts on the homepage are not looking good,The link to the post and post excerpt and looking mixed up.There should at least be a underline to indicate a link to the post page in the link.
5. It would look nice if there were images used in the posts excerpts on the blog page.
6. There is no way go going to next page from post pages, Like pages 1-2-3-4 etc.
7. There is no categories widget on post page, giving no chance to vistors for navigating to other posts.
8. No Social Bookmarking Options, Use of plugins like Share This would be nice to attract more traffic

Final Thoughts

AmitBhawani.com is a daily updated blog with lots of good quality content,tutorials,reviews. With a few improvements on his theme design and good utilization of page space it would be a good site very soon.
