CleanHandler – Edit AutoPlay Options In XP and Vista

When you pop in a CD/USB Drive in XP/Vista you get an AutoPlay Option Window giving you an option to chose the action to be taken directly using the applications listed in the AutoPlay Options.But If you install many applications many programs handle different file formats, and the autoplay options can be overloaded.

CleanHandlers helps you remove the invalid entries from the listing. In addition, this utility can find invalid AutoPlay entries and also remove them automatically.

Application Fixes :

  1. Select an action to perform box is completely blank for an event.
  2. To remove unwanted entries from the AutoPlay window.
  3. A junk entry appears in the AutoPlay window, sub-titled as <need provider>

You can do away with the invalid handlers by editing the following registry entries,AutoPlay Handlers are located at the following registry location in Windows

  1. Goto Start -> Run ->Type ” regedit” ( without quotes ) and navigate the following location in the windows registry hive

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ AutoplayHandlers \ Handlers \ <handler>

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ AutoplayHandlers \ EventHandlers \ <Event Name>

Note : Registry Editing is a tricky part, so do backup your registry before you try editing your registry.
