Google Chrome OS Compressed Virtual Machine ( .vmdk, .img, ima ) Images

Google Chrome OS is the new Linux based cloud computing OS that many users want to try, with many installation and download files available over the internet, but the file size is around 600 MB to download and with limitations of download speeds and download limits from ISP’s some users might miss out trying Google Chrome OS.

I’ve come across compressed images of Google Chrome OS in .vmdk and .ima formats which can be uncompressed to full size.The compressed images are around 200MB.

VMWare or VirtualBox installation:Download the 2 files from these links then extract the compressed .vmdk file with WinRAR

To make a bootable USB from the (.ima) extract the compressed .ima file.Download WinImage & Open it and Select “Disk” > “Restore Virtual hard Disk Image on physical drive…” then select the extracted .ima file to be burned on your USB flash device as a bootable OS.

Note : You need to have a bigger USB flash device if you are installing as USB-Bootable (around 8GB of size).
