How To Create A Font From Your Handwriting For Free
I’ve earlier shared YourFonts a paid-service for creating fonts out of your own handwriting style, but FontCapture is a free service and requires no signup for converting your handwriting into a font. All that you need is a printer and scanner.
- Firstly Download the font template [PDF]
- Print it and fill it up
- Scan the filled up Font Template and upload it to FontCapture and
- Download the fonts of your handwriting and install it.

The fonts created can be used in both Windows and MAC OS.
To Install the fonts :
For Windows Users : move the font file into the Fonts Folder at location “C:\Windows\Fonts”
For Mac Users : Double click on the font, and then click “Install font”

No longer free… does anyine know of a similar service?
Hi Pedro
http://www.myscriptfont.com is a free handwriting to font converter service.
@Thomas:
Thanks. I gave it a try today with a quick broad nib pen script and it works as well as YourFonts. At least, without further testing, I can say that the scanning/tracing tool works very well, but the auto contrast analysis and character spacing aren’t so good…
For now it works pretty well. Let’s see if they remain free
