Nokia has launched its BetaLabs site which would provide applications for their mobile phones. There are four applications currently available including widsets, mobile wellness tracker, sports tracker, and mobile codes. As the service is still in its Beta stage, the applications are not fully supported by all the models, and the applications still have a few features to be implemented into them.We can expect more applications to be launched in the near future.
Mobile Codes are similar to barcodes, but can hold more data than an ordinary barcode. The camera in your mobile will be used to scan data, decode the data and store it on your phone right away. For Example you can scan a business card using your cellphone camera, and access to the encoded information straight on the display in a formatted way which can be stored right away.
Widsets are similar to widgets on a computer, with Widsets you can access to your favorite web communities, get traffic alerts, news, blogs, gossip, restaurant reviews, weather reports.
There are over 1000 widsets available as of now, categories ranging from Blogs and Forums,Games,News, Imaging, Sports etc.Flickr,Digg,Tech Crunch ,eBay, Wikipedia are a few.
Wellness Diary is an application which can store your health parameters on a daily basis. You can monitor your weight, eating habits, exercise, blood pressure and others.
Important Note: Be careful when you try out these applications as they are in their Beta Stage, on upgrading them later there is a possibility of loosing all your stored data.
