GlassToasts replaces the regular XP and Vista’s Balloon tips and gives them a aero glass effect. To say in their own words

GlassToasts replaces the “ugly” WindowsXP/Vista style balloon notifications with the Beta 1 style glassy toasts: With this application the balloons in Vista will also have an aero glass look.

It replaces this

balloontips

with

aero-glass-toast

The software is compatible with Windows XP and Windows Vista and requires to have installed Visual Studio 2005 SP1 Runtime Files.

Download GlassToasts from here.

Improve Flip3D Performance On Slower Graphic Cards In Vista »

tag Categories :  Tips,Tricks and Hacks
time Posted on Wednesday, March 5, 2008 by Venkat | * Comments(0)

Flip3D is the most liked graphical feature in Vista, but the hardware requirements for pulling this off is really great in Vista and requires a good Graphic Card.In case you have a lower end Graphic Card the flipping could be choppy, If many windows are open then the choppiness is more evident because of the frame rates drop.

You can make Flip 3D to perform much better by limiting the number of windows it draws on your screen by a simple registry hack.

vista_flip3d

Steps

1. Go to Start> Type regedit and hit Enter.

2. Navigate through HKEY_CURRENT_USER, Software, Microsoft, Windows and DWM.

3. Now, create a new DWORD and call it Max3DWindows.

4. Set the value of this to something between 4 and 9 depending on the performance of your card. Experiment with the values to find the best value for your hardware.

5. Restart the DWM interface by running net stop uxsms and net start uxsms at an administrative level command prompt.

Warning : Editing your registry is dangerous, do make a back up of your registry before trying to edit it.

If you are using Windows XP you can try out some freeware that can do the same thing like WinFlip. Read more about WinFlip in our past post.
